SASC guidance on the use of remote assessment in the identification of Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)

This guidance supersedes previous guidance and should be followed from October 2026. It sets out professional standards and practical recommendations for assessors, addressing issues such as safeguarding, ethics, test selection, assessment environments, training requirements, and client agreements. We ask that assessors carefully review the guidance included from publishers, where permission has been granted to use assessments remotely. There is also a list for assessors of assessment materials where publishers have not given permission for them to use remotely, which therefore, should not be used in this manner.
