DASH and DASH 17+ not to be used after May 2025
The second edition of the Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting (DASH-2) was published in March 2024. It is intended for use with children and young adults aged 8 to 25 to identify those with handwriting speed difficulties.
In November 2024, the STEC committee issued an update noting a marked difference in scores between DASH (2007), DASH 17+(2010) and DASH2 (2024). https://www.sasc.org.uk/news/dash-dash-17-and-dash-2-update/. The decision was taken to withdraw DASH/DASH 17+ from the SASC list from June 2025. DASH/DASH 17+ must not be used for diagnostic assessment reports completed after 31st May 2025.
This date is unaffected by any grace periods subsequently issued for tests removed from the new STEC list published in June 2025.
