The IDS-2 is a UK-normed, versatile assessment battery which can be used in a holistic way to gather information about many aspects of an individual’s profile. This course will consider its use in relation to the assessment areas outlined in SASC’s New Report Format.

Description
This course is primarily aimed at anyone who wants to gain an understanding of how the IDS-2 can be used in diagnostic assessments of individuals who may have an SpLD, following the new guidelines that accompany the SASC’s New Report Format and the recommendations made in the new STEC test list. There will be an overview of the structure and key features of the IDS-2, so it will be suitable for those who are not yet familiar with it, but the main content will relate to its immense versatility in both literacy-focused and maths-focused assessments. The intended outcome of the course is that delegates will be familiar with:
Learning outcomes
The main domains of the IDS-2: intelligence, executive functions and general development.
The subtests that are relevant for assessing the different areas of language and reasoning, attainment, and cognitive presentation that are specified within the SASC New Report Format.
Other subtests that may be used for extended investigation of motor coordination difficulties, should this be indicated during an SpLD assessment.
The extent to which the IDS-2 covers the abilities that are relevant in an SpLD assessment.
The range of other purposes for which the IDS-2 may be used e.g. access arrangements, early assessment for planning intervention etc.
