Description
Diagnostic Decision Making in Dyslexia Assessment is a practical, structured 2-hour CPD session to help you make better sense of complex profiles, strengthen your reasoning, and move forward with more clarity and confidence. It is grounded in the principles of converging evidence and uses the Delphi definition of dyslexia as a framework for exploring what the profile is really telling you.
This is not about quick labels or over-relying on a table of scores.
It is about learning how to zoom in and zoom out, look at each strand of evidence properly, and make robust, defensible decisions that make sense in the real world.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session, you will be better able to:
- approach diagnostic decision making in a more structured and confident way
- map a profile against the key elements of the Delphi definition
- use converging evidence rather than relying too heavily on isolated scores
- think more clearly about background information, qualitative observations and quantitative data together
- identify where a profile is strong, where it is incomplete, and where it needs further exploration
- consider unexpectedness in a more nuanced and up-to-date way
- spot possible co-occurring needs without stepping outside professional boundaries
- leave with clearer next steps for both the profile in front of you and your wider assessment practice
