   Course Summary
An opportunity for those involved in assessing for access arrangements to gain or refresh their knowledge of the assessment and reporting procedures for Access Arrangements in GCSEs and GCEs for SpLD learners.
   Course Detail

This full day course has been specifically designed for those new to assessment for Access Arrangements as well as experienced assessors who wish to refresh and update their knowledge on meeting the needs of learners with SpLD in examinations.

The course will discuss current regulations relating to GCSE and GCE qualifications. In this context it aims to develop delegates' knowledge of standardised assessment for access arrangements and the selection of appropriate tests to establish individual needs. It will address best practice in managing the assessment process, communicating with relevant parties, essential record keeping and processing applications.

Questions and Answer sessions are included throughout the day, with opportunities to discuss delegates' particular queries relating to access arrangements for GCSE and GCE candidates. Nick Lait, Head of Examination Services at the JCQ, will attend to provide an update to the regulations and to answer specific queries.

  • • Review the selection of reliable, valid and up-to-date assessment tools to determine appropriate access arrangements to meet individual needs
  • • Investigate gathering evidence from both the assessment and the centre to fulfil the requirements for each access arrangement
  • • Consider best practice in reporting outcomes, informing colleagues and learners to comply with JCQ regulations including JCQ Form 8, essential record keeping systems and the processing of applications using the online system
